i picked up the craze for sushi here in london. especially those with salmon. it's healthy and the safest bet (halal, no alcohol used in preparing it). that's why lah i'm always up for japanese cuisine! :))
missyF and i went window shopping in oxford st this morning. everything seemed to be labelled with the "please-buy-me" tag. and me apelagi, after being detained from shopping for the past 3 months, menjadi rambang mata! hohoho. so we went for pre-lunch at sakana-tei (just off regents st) untuk menenangkan jiwa dan berfikir secara (lebih) waras. hihihi.
from outside, omg this restaurant looked so basic and empty. stepped into the restaurant, welcomed with the simplest interior design - two words: Plain and Boh-ring. we were guided to our table downstairs and oh, ade customers lain rupa-rupanya. surprisingly, all of them were japanese. looked at the menu and decided to share one of the lunch sets.
but ended up kene "sound" by the ladyboss...saying something along the line yang 1 person must order at least one meal, because you're using 2 chairs and the lunch menu is already so cheap (...not for student like moi! blergh!)
so nak taknak, we ordered 2 lunch sets *waved goodbye to GBK* and shared each of them. it's not like we don't have money to pay pun! ho ho ho :P
first round was a bowl of vegetable udon, 4 pieces of nigiri sushi (salmon, shrimp, tuna and i-dunno-wat) and 6 pieces of cuccumber-filled maki sushi. the winner: vegetable udon *nyumnyum*
second round was chirashi-sushi; a bowl of sushi rice with varieties of scattered fillings on top. the fish fillets were gemok-gemok belaka and fresh banget. got macam2, semua pun ada - squid, salmon, shrimp, mackerel, tuna, whitefish-i-tak-tau, kurita, crab, egg. what did i miss? hmmm..... we got quite muak by the end of the meal, too raw lah! kenot tahan. luckily got 2 slices of oranges each to clear the throat. fuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhhh.
verdict of this restaurant - food was good, fresh and nyummy. service was so-so, sbb ade ladyboss yang sangat garang. and it's quite obvious she was friendlier towards her own kind. owner dekat cashier was so unfriendly and he took the balance without even asking our permission. cissssss! will i come back? maybe.... 50-50. if they can be MORE friendly...maybe yes!
besides that expensive lunch, another damage of the day would be this:
