one of my flatmates politely said, "No, thank you" when i offered her some rendang ayam and raya cookies during our raya celebration. she is a vegetarian.
and i feel like such a terrible person that i actually had the nerve to questioned on why did she chose to be one , and wonder if she ever felt curious on how meat taste like? ...when obviously i knew that she's doing it because of her religion; jainism. (if you are interested/curious, you can read more about it HERE).
it's like when a non-muslim friend asking me on why do I need to pray 5 times per day or why do I need to fast during Ramadhan? explaining the fasting experience to those who don't understand was not easy when another local muslim friend claimed that the only way she coped with the long fasting hour during summer in london is by NOT FASTING at all. geeez.
i guess, you don't really question those rituals you do because of religion... mostly because you are doing it for your God (in respect to whichever God you believe in). i've never pertikaikan why do i need to pray - it's a MUST-DO! berdosa weihh tinggalkan sembahyang.
ahwell...me, my curious mind and takde-insurance mouth. *laughs*
luckily she just gave me that silent, blank look before she asnwered. then i had to make it clear that i will never be as strong as her; to say NO to the meat temptations! vegetables are healthy; it makes you skin look pretty.
but oh gawwwwd, can you imagine life without any seafood dose - no to crab, prawns, fish, squid (my favourite!) and many more underwater-shell-creatures. and no eggs?
*looking at the blueberry cheese tart*
i'll pass. *gobbled down the tart* nyom nyom nyom.
